St. Louis - For the last 60 years, Whelan Security, one of the industry's foremost respected providers of contract security staffing services, has presented the industry with premium security and staffing capabilities. The privately-owned security firm has placed expansion at the forefront of its plans for the next 60 years. The company recently expanded its territory by opening offices in California and Arizona and now it will be expanding its services with the announcement of a new division specific to Event Services. Whelan's past and current experience with the St. Louis Cardinals (at Busch Stadium), Minnesota Vikings (at Mall of America Field at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome), and the St. Louis Rams (at the Edward Jones Dome) was the catalyst that triggered plans to unveil the new division.
"For years we have been part of many special events, from professional sporting venues (including Major League Baseball, the National Football League, and the PGA) to Presidential Debates and Political Conventions," said Greg Twardowski, President of Whelan Security. "With the expansion of our Minnesota office, we were able to offer a full spectrum of services for the Vikings. Through the service to the Vikings, Cardinals, and the 2009 Democratic and Republican Conventions in Denver and Minneapolis, we realized that our contract security business model and experience with staffing services provided a sound platform for event services – thus the launching of the Event Services Division."
In addition to standard security services, Whelan’s Event Services Division will offer ushers, ticket takers, crowd control professionals, and parking attendants. Much of the work will center on the following events: professional and college sports venues, concerts, political debates, and conventions. The new division will be led by Jeff Spoerndle, Director – Event Services. Spoerndle brings more than 15 years of operations and sales experience in security and staffing services specifically related to special events to Whelan Security.
