Whelan Security Announces Expansion Into Detroit, Michigan

St. Louis - Whelan Security Co., headquartered in St. Louis, has announced an expansion into Detroit, Michigan.  With this announcement, Whelan Security will immediately begin managing local security operations in the Detroit area for an international automobile manufacturer.

“Like most of our previous geographic expansion opportunities, our expansion into Detroit is a natural extension of a national agreement we have with a valued and prestigious customer,” said Prentice Robertson, Executive Vice President of Whelan.  “Detroit offers us a tremendous opportunity.  Like many cities in America, Detroit is looking for a high quality, professional security staffing provider that understands today’s safety issues.”

The expansion into the Detroit market is part of Whelan Security’s strategic growth plan that is concentrated throughout the Central and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States.  With a solid base throughout the Midwest, Whelan Security has also expanded (at the request of current customers) into Minneapolis-St. Paul, Denver, Albuquerque, Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Little Rock in 2007.  This expansion followed on the heels of a successful joint venture expansion into the Mid-Atlantic in 2005 with Security Forces, Inc of Charlotte, NC.  The Mid-Atlantic expansion, operating as Whelan SFI, now encompasses operations in Washington D.C, Baltimore, Northern Virginia, and Delaware.

“Through the use of our industry leading, performance-metric driven quality assurance program and employee training, we have created significant momentum for our brand within the national industry, and we believe the momentum is sustainable for the next five to ten year period, if not longer,” said Robertson.  “Needless to say, we continue to look at opportunities for expansion presented to us by our valued customers.”
