Whelan Security Announces New Chief Human Resources Officer

Whelan Security is excited to announce that Carrie Ward has joined the company as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Carrie will serve as a member of the executive management team and have responsibility for all aspects of human resource management and administration across all of the Whelan entities. In this role, Carrie will lead the human resource service delivery platform and develop, implement, lead, and manage all key HR initiatives, programs, and staff throughout the Whelan organization. She will also serve in a key strategic advisory role across all aspects of the business.

Prior to joining Whelan, Carrie was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Major Brands Inc., one of the 50 largest privately held companies in the St. Louis region. She joined Major Brands in 2012 as Director, Human Resources and was quickly promoted to Vice President – Operations and Administration (with responsibility for HR, Operations, IT, Communications, and Administration) before ascending to the COO role. Before her time with Major Brands, Carrie spent 16 years with May Company (and its successors) in various progressive leadership roles related to Human Resources and Process Improvement.

Carrie serves as an Advisory Board Member to a significant lubricant distributor in the Midwest, and also serves on the boards of several charitable organizations including the Banded Brigade Outdoors (an organization dedicated to restoring independence to traumatically injured veterans serving all branches of the U.S. military), and the United Way.

Carrie graduated Magna Cum Laude from the John Cook School of Business at St. Louis University. She has also participated in the Women’s Leadership Forum at Washington University’s Olin School of Business and the CIO Institute at the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.
